My kids don't go back until after Labor Day and my little one entering first grade likes just about everything, "plain".  So I do cupcake wrappers filled with all sorts of different things that he likes when I pack a lunch for him (about half the time).  The school lunch program isn't bad here, thank goodness.  It actually gets him to try more things when he sees his friends trying them.
  • Wow! That cornmeal cookie recipe looks great!  And I love the giant cookie that you break up.
  • Found a hilarious entry in a 1950s ethnic cookbook called "easy-to-prepare breakfast for a teenage girl. "A plump teenager in a shirtwaist dress is posed behind a breakfast spread of cornflakes, milk, white bread toast with butter, orange juice.   A more festive choice: for a special treat, my Slovenian American mother made us what she called jelly rolls for breakfast.  Palacinke, in Slovenian.  In other words, crepes.  Usually eaten with butter and brown sugar.  Delicious!
